Abstract

Karina Gonzalez is a first generation graduating Skidmore student, double majoring in Business and Sociology. Her mother migrated from the Dominican Republic and they currently live in Harlem, NYC along with her older brother two older sisters. In the following interview, Karina speaks to her fellow student, Isabel Rojas, about what it means to be a second generation Latina; together, they explore the complexities of her identity as an Afro Dominicana, as well as family dynamics, beauty, gender, and bi-nationality.
