Abstract

For my exhibition, I took a photo of a ripened (possibly over-ripened banana). This is an item that my housemate finds meaningful to him. I knew he liked bananas because whenever we go food shopping, he always insists on purchasing copious amounts of bananas. I happened to run into him in the library and as usual, he had a banana right by his side. He informed me that he starting eating bananas as a baby, probably in the liquid form. He emphasized how it provides sustenance throughout the day. I specifically asked him what he felt about this banana being overly ripened. He said he had no problem with its color and it was perfectly ok to eat. The exact words he used were” It is overly ripened like my soul”. This may give some insight into the character of my housemate. After asking him a few a more questions, he raised the banana to his left ear and pretended it was a telephone.
