Description
Karl Broekhuizen came to Skidmore in 1981 as Vice President of Business Affairs and remained in that position until 2005. In this interview he describes his path to Skidmore, including his education and experiences as a financial officer at other higher education institutions. He considers the unique opportunities involved in managing a relatively young institution like Skidmore and reflects on his work with four College presidents. Some of the financial challenges faced by the College across the years, its ambitious building program (especially the Tang), and building reputation throughout his tenure are topics that figure prominently in this interview.
