Description

An article describing hte growing number of senior citizens in Saratoga County. The article incidcates that the over 65 population in tghe county grew by 11.7 percent (1990-1997) , more than the 7.9 percent growth across all age groups. By 1997, there were 21,036 people older than 65 in Saratoga County, with 9,137 older than 75 and 2,204 older than 85. According to center director Sylvia Newcomb, longevity only partially explains growing interest in the center. Some comes from people moving to the county. The article also indicates that many older women, who never drove, are unlikely to reach out for help or to express interest in the center.
