Abstract (& Historical Note)

Although undated, details on this larger and linen-backed version of the map suggest a twentieth-century copy. The drawings of the schoolhouse and meeting house represent buildings that did not exist in 1810; such pictorial images do not generally form a part of official plats (property maps). This map is Number 7 in the Ted Gray collection now held at the City Historian’s office, and could be the work of city engineer Samuel J. Mott or another early city planner. The Gray collection includes many redrawings of foundational Saratoga Springs maps and plans in the County records office. The maps in the collection likely served public and private surveyors and engineers.
